Today's picture was taken on our first day in Prague (Saturday), in Lesser Town, at the base of the "hill" that Prague Castle sits on. The highlight of the city is the architecture, which has remained better preserved than in other large European cities through both world wars and communist occupation. The baroque buildings were most plentiful and impressive in their bounty, but I chose this photo to start things off, because my mom likes pink.
I hope to post a few more photos soon (I promise not more than a hundred), but this weekend is Uitmarkt in Amsterdam, so I might be a bit busy.

I still think you guys had something to do with the demotion of Pluto. But now we can start to spread (ha!) our new planets mnemonic: My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Neufchatel.
Yeah, it's sad about Pluto. Poor god of the underworld doesn't get his own planet.
On the other hand, Uitmarket sounds pretty cool!
It was cool getting to read two of the earlier drafts of the planet resolution before the voting! I think the final resolution is more clearly worded than some of the earlier versions. They must not have had lawyers writing it.
And what we've seen of Uitmarkt is GREAT. Huge citywide free arts festival! We stood in line for 40 minutes and then ran in the stampede to get good seats for the 25 minute preview of the ballet season. And it turns out that all the seats are good in that theater. Then we saw two chamber music concerts in a theater inside a glass box in the commodities trading house. And between theaters, there are tables set up for information and stages or tents with DJs and hip hop.
the Uitmarkt does sound great. Let me know what you end up seeing. Which ballet companies are coming? Anything on Opera for Fernando? charlene
